About Shelley

Early in my adult life I knew I wanted to become a nurse-midwife. Following a degree in Political Science and French at Western Washington University, I took the necessary steps to reach my goal including completing a doula training course at Seattle Midwifery School and attending an accelerated nursing program back east.

Following nursing school, I worked as a labor and delivery nurse in the greater Seattle area for about 10 years. In 2003 my family and I moved to Spokane, WA, to be closer to extended family. After a few years of working as a labor nurse and teaching for WSU, I decided it was finally time to go back to school. In 2008 I completed my master's degree in Nurse-Midwifery at the University of Washington. Over the past 15 years I have dedicated my professional life to providing midwifery care, teaching the next generation, and leadership roles. One of the most important lessons I have learned through out my professional life is how much I truly love being present with women through out pregnancy, birth, and beyond.

Overall, I would like to say my clients would describe me as very caring, kind, and a good listener. My primary objective as a nurse-midwife is to do all that I can to ensure my clients have a safe and positive birth experience.
