About Fleur

When Fleur discovered midwifery, it was definitely “love at first sight”. Feeling a strong calling to the profession, she took a class with a home birth midwife, volunteered as a childbirth assistant, and spent time in El Paso, TX working in a birth center. It was definitely “midwifery boot camp”, and in Spanish!

After becoming a mother herself, she headed to New York, and Columbia University, to pursue Bachelors and Masters degrees in Nursing and Midwifery. Fleur is passionate about health care equity and community health. She arrived in Spokane in 2002, as a National Health Service Corps scholar, to serve with the Community Health Association of Spokane.

Central to her practice philosophy is that care should be a partnership between midwife and client. She endeavors to meet each person where they are, and to provide a judgement-free zone. This approach is foundational to developing a plan that provides education, promotes health, and ensures safety, with clear communication as a central focus. Fleur practices with a direct approach, is a great listener, and works to facilitate an experience that supports each unique individual and family. She is delighted to join Quilted Midwives!

Married 18 years, Fleur is a proud Mom of an adult son, and a high-school senior daughter. Outside of the office Fleur enjoys being with family. She has studied martial arts and has a purple belt in karate. A music-lover, she plays violin, having played multiple concerts with the Gonzaga Symphony Orchestra. She might ski in the winter, but most often day-dreams of swimming, anywhere, especially at ANY beach.
